“Encounter” represents the many connections that can arise through art—between people, but also with one’s own thoughts and feelings. As you may know, my own artistic practice and my creative workshops have become increasingly intertwined over the past year.

In this exhibition, I’m showing my own drawings and paintings as well as works by participants in my workshops. The exhibition explores how painting can create moments of connection—with ourselves and with others—and how creative work can support emotional healing processes.

“we heal together”consists of variations on a group embrace. The recurring image serves as a metaphor for the supportive role that community can play in difficult moments: the opportunity to feel held, understood, and less alone. The loose brushstrokes and shifting color palettes reflect the uncertainty of healing as an unfinished process, marked by moments of relief and doubt, connected to my experience of living with persistent physical pain since October 2024. Some paintings feature texts created using rhinestones and antidepressant pills. These fragments stem from conversations, reflections, and the many perspectives I have encountered during this process. They address the search for relief, the desire for

understanding, and the difficulty of recognizing what might help.

InASL – healing & learning, two figures communicate using American Sign Language, expressing the concepts of “healing” and “learning.” The body becomes a language to speak about an embodied process—something that is often invisible or difficult to explain.

In the fall of 2024, I began offering workshops on drawing, painting, and mindful movement to create spaces for connection and to share the practices that have fostered my own well-being. Over time, these workshops became an important part of my artistic life.

For this exhibition, I invited the participants to exhibit works inspired by the exercises we explored together. Their drawings and paintings are not presented as student work, but as part of an ongoing dialogue about creativity and observation. Many thanks to Adriana, Antonio, Basak, Cian, Denitza, Grégori, Hana, Hira, Ivan, Lilly, Petra, Samantha, Sandra, and Yalda for exhibiting your works here alongside me.
