Beppu Punk Cats (JP/DE)

Masaya Hirai from Beppu (Japan) and Jan Kosyk (Dresden) have joined forces to form the Beppu Punk Cats. An explosive mix of political lyrics and emotional songs in German, Japanese, and English.

This summer, Hirai Masaya is coming to Germany for the first time. Reason enough to embark on a short tour through eastern Germany and treat you to some folk-jazz-punk-rock.

Accompanied by guitar and piano, their expressive voices tell the story of why Alex expropriates the bear, how to get Nazis out of the house, and why people are more important than borders. And while the two of them use my pen to jot down the occasional musical phrase for the audience’s ears, they shoot the breeze about melted ice cream. Just as if they were sitting in the sun, sipping a beer in front of the nearest late-night store.
