For 70 years, what is arguably the world’s largest music festival has been thrilling fans around the globe. Once dismissed as outdated a few years ago, the Eurovision Song Contest has been making a huge comeback in recent years.

For this Capitol veteran with the soft voice, this contest has always been the musical highlight of the year. Bernd Nauwartat has celebrated this day the same way for years. He watches it alone, with his phone on silent, has the starting lists and scoring system ready, and eats only foods that don’t make noise when chewed.

It’s been his biggest dream for a very long time to put on a big Eurovision concert, and now the time has finally come.
