Sascha im Quadrat

"Sascha im Quadrat" has been a fixture at the Capitol Mannheim Casino since 2012. As has been the tradition for over a decade, Sascha Kleinophorst, Sascha Krebs, Frank Schäffer, and Christof Brill will once again invite a musical guest to join them once a month in 2026. They play whatever they enjoy. The result is a blend of unique cover versions of well-known songs and unparalleled humor.

The series has since achieved cult status—not least thanks to the ROCKTzuHAUSE streams during the two lockdowns.

October’s guest: Carina Smerdon
After winning Radio RPR1’s “Voice of the Year” competition in Mannheim at age 12, Carina moved from beautiful Weisenheim am Sand to Hamburg to train as a musical theater performer at the Stage School.
After her stint as a singer for Royal Caribbean’s major musical productions, she played the lead role of Eva Perón in “Evita.” Shortly thereafter, she moved to Vienna and was part of the opening night cast of “Ich war noch niemals in New York” at the Raimund Theater. She then lived in South Africa for nine years, where she appeared in productions such as “Cinderella” and “Goldilocks,” among others. During this time, she was hired as a singer for Crystal Cruises and worked on board with performers from Broadway and the West End before returning to her home country in 2022. Carina can currently be seen at the Kammertheater Karlsruhe in the productions “ABBA – Waterloo in the Ball Pit” and “ABBA GOLD – Dancing Queen at the Hot Dog Stand.”

Who are the Saschas?
Sascha Kleinophorst has toured with many rock bands; among other things, he performed as the frontman of the Brass Machine throughout Germany and appeared several times at the legendary Montreux Jazz Festival. In addition, like his partner in crime Sascha Krebs, he is a longtime member of the Capitol Ensemble, which has a large fan base. The fact that “Little Sascha”—as Sascha Krebs is also affectionately known—rocks just as hard in an intimate setting as he does on the biggest stages with his band “The Queen Kings” is part of the success of Sascha im Quadrat.
