Adaptive Motion Control for Autonomous Vehicles in Uncertain Environments
What is this about?
Autonomous vehicles must make safe and efficient decisions even when sensor data is incomplete, models contain uncertainties, or other road users act unpredictably. The focus is on adaptive motion control approaches that enable safe and efficient operation in uncertain and dynamic environments.
Where Do We Stand Today?
The current state of the art combines model-based control, trajectory planning, probabilistic prediction, and data-driven methods. Many systems already achieve high performance but reach their limits when uncertainties, rare scenarios, and real-time requirements occur simultaneously.
What’s new?
Vehicle dynamics, environmental uncertainty, and decision-making logic are not considered separately but are closely interlinked. Instead of fixed control strategies, parameters, risk assessment, and driving behavior are continuously adapted to the respective situation.
