The film accompanies the scientists Linfa Wang, Zhengli Shi and Peter Daszak, whose many years of research are caught up in the maelstrom of political debates, media abbreviations and global conspiracy narratives as a result of the COVID-19 outbreak. Frei shows precisely how scientific work is distorted into simple guilt stories in times of crisis and the personal price paid by those who warn of risks early on.

BLAME focuses on responsibility, transparency and the people behind the research.
