Blockierte Sieger – Geteiltes Berlin. 75 Jahre Luftbrücke

2023/24 marks the 75th anniversary of the "Airlift", an event closely linked to Berlin's history. To mark the occasion, the Military History Museum Berlin-Gatow Airfield, the Allied Museum Berlin and the Berlin-Karlshorst Museum are jointly staging an open-air exhibition at Tempelhof Airport.

The story of the success and achievement of the airlift is well known. The exhibition adds further perspectives to this view: How did the blockade and airlift come about in 1948? What policies did the victorious and occupying powers pursue in the first post-war years? What do the blockade and airlift have to do with the division of the city? How did Berliners experience this period? And what role does the Airlift play in Berlin's culture of remembrance? The exhibition explores these questions in four chapters: Blocked Victors, Divided Berlin, Airlift, Myth and Memory.

The exhibition is presented in German, English, French and Russian. A handout in Ukrainian is also being prepared. An online publication will also be published to accompany the exhibition. More details on the accompanying program with lectures, readings and film screenings will be available on the website shortly.

The exhibition is being realized with the support of Tempelhof Projekt GmbH.

There is no parking available on site. There is a ramp for wheelchair users and a toilet for people with disabilities at the "CHECK IN" visitor center entrance.

GUIDED TOURS

Public guided tours
Every first Sunday of the month, the three cooperating museums offer public guided tours of the exhibition in German at 12 noon and 2 pm. You do not need to register for these tours. Simply come to the meeting point at the Adlerkopf in front of the former departure hall
