Saxophonist Ted Milton (born in 1943) coined the term punk jazz in the 1980s, and his band Blurt is still one of the most exciting and rousing acts on the avant-garde scene today.

Anyone who wants to see and, above all, hear the old master of "punk fake pogo jazz" with his band one last time should seize the opportunity.

In his autobiography, Eric Clapton describes how he often spent time with Milton in the summer of 1965 in Milton's girlfriend Clarissa's apartment. "Ted was an extraordinary man. A poet and visionary ... he was the first person I had ever seen interpret music so physically ... expressing it with his whole being, dancing and miming what he was hearing. Watching him, I understood for the first time how you can really experience music, how you can listen to it and bring it to life so that it becomes part of your life. It was a true awakening experience."

Milton's lyrics are at least as Dadaist as his saxophone playing. Sometimes breathed, sometimes shouted, he hits the listener with a thick, unsettling pound. Drums and guitar form the ground on which Ted Milton can unfold. In 1980, Ted Milton threw down his gloves and his job as a puppeteer, learned the saxophone and formed the band Blurt. The band members surrounded themselves with such illustrious guests as the Sex Pistols, Eric Clapton, The Police and many other suspects from the famous years of punk and rock. Milton's Dada avant-garde jazz and the torn, hypnotic no-wave anthems were style-defining for various artists and bands in the early 80s.

With Blurt, a certain minimalism is added to this, consisting of trashy, hypnotic drums, monotonous guitar licks and tribal, meandering sermons. Only rarely has music been so direct and immediate, yet so controlled and energetic, as with the band led by former puppeteer Ted Milton. Simply no compromises, just blurt. Cadavre de Schnaps started in 2015 as a one-man DIY project by Jeong-Il Sin. Songwriting and production were realized with the simplest of means and without commercial ambitions. Despite this, the resulting album Let Bad Things Happen was well received in the Cologne indie scene and was mentioned in the Stadtrevue as one of the best albums of the year.
