No light without darkness and when BOHREN & DER CLUB OF GORE crawl out of their cave, jazz finally sounds dark again. Their unique, dragged-out dark-ambient "horror" jazz creeps and crawls, makes instruments whisper and enjoys an endless tension. They turn every chord, every bass note and every minute-long rattling cymbal dab into a universe. Music on the verge of standstill. Everything in this music has weight and when the saxophone howls, it's not just the air that vibrates, but the whole body.
