Erich Korngold composed his far too rarely performed violin concerto in Los Angeles, where numerous Jewish artists found refuge from the Nazi regime. A touch of Hollywood pervades the piece - Bomsori Kim finds an almost tender sound for it. It is coupled with a romantic early work by Schönberg and Beethoven's Seventh - rapture meets exuberant joy.
