Kenyan-Australian artist Brazen Barbie, who came to Perth via Melbourne, is a musician whose talent and drive should not be underestimated. Her captivating, commanding voice and cool, bold lyricism have found their place in the growing scene of emerging Australian R&B and hip-hop talent. From thought to pen, Brazen Barbie has delivered hit after hit throughout her career, showcasing the unadorned nature of someone destined for global success. Brazen's musical journey began in elementary school, where her early interest in cello and singing ignited the artistic flame she would soon explore in her youth. Soon after, she followed in the footsteps of greats like rapper Gangsta Boo and crunk pioneer Duke Deuce, but with an unmatched authenticity that set her apart from her peers. Hits like CHECK and DON'T TALK feature rightly boastful lines that act as affirmations of self-confidence, independence and divine femininity. Her playful punchlines soften the impact of her rough and tough lyricism and show the complexity and depth of her writing style. Having performed at the Sydney Fringe Festival, BIG SOUND, SXSW and Promiseland, and being included in the Acclaim Magazine All Stars Class of 2024, we've only gotten a small taste of what Brazen Barbie has in store. Her appearances on the playlists of prominent streaming platforms such as Spotify's The Drip, The Flavour, Local Hype and A1, as well as her notable features in VICE, Acclaim Magazine, Purple Sneakers and AU Dollars, speak volumes about Brazen's reach. In an interview with Sydney community radio station FBi Radio, she described herself as one of her main influences and sources of inspiration. It's obvious that she's carving her own path in the often oversaturated, male-dominated world of hip-hop, rap and R&B. She is resilient, made of steel, unashamed and undoubtedly bold.
