Judge Mathilde de Boncourt is asked to visit the monastery of Sainte-Agathe-Lys. Miraculous apparitions there not only attract many pilgrims, but the high level of attention has already reached Rome and leads emissaries of the Pope to the south of France. They are to initiate an on-site investigation into the mysterious events. While Mathilde is investigating the mystery, a journalist who wanted to report on the mysterious apparitions is murdered in Nîmes. The judge and her team plunge straight into the investigation, but it doesn't stop with this one victim ...

Liliane Fontaine is a crime writer and art historian, born in Saarlouis in Saarland, the German-French border region. After an apprenticeship as a banker, she studied art history, classical and Near Eastern archaeology at Saarland University, graduating with a Dr. phil. She has lived with her family in Bremen since 2001. She has French roots and lives many weeks of the year near Nîmes, where she knows the culture, the country, the people and the savoir-vivre of France. She has published numerous specialist articles on horse culture, art and architecture, as well as business portraits and chronicles.
