Tragicomic portrait of a life marked by illusion and inability to relate. Bill Murray on an absurdly funny road trip through past loves, which won the Grand Jury Prize at the 2005 Cannes Film Festival.
The day doesn't start well at all for Don Johnston. First he is dumped by his much younger girlfriend Sherry, then a pink letter flutters into the house. Not a love message, but the late receipt for an earlier liaison of the graying Don Juan: He has a son, now 19 years old, who may visit him shortly, threatens the anonymous writer.
But who is the mother? If it were up to Don alone, he would certainly continue to watch over his sofa and let things happen to him. But his neighbor Winston persuades the lethargic couch potato to do some detective work. And so, rather reluctantly and armed with pink flowers, Don embarks on a madcap journey into his amorous past. Four women in four different cities come into consideration as the mother of the unknown son...
