In the organizer's words:
Cantus Portugueses takes the audience on a musical journey through the diverse traditions of Portugal. With original arrangements and an unusual line-up of orchestral and traditional instruments, vocal soloists and choir, songs from different regions of the country are performed - from Celtic-influenced melodies to dance-like love songs and revolutionary songs.
The focus is on traditional instruments such as adufe, trancanholas, cavaquinho, guitarra portuguesa and bagpipes. The result is a lively concert experience that conveys the culture, language and musical traditions of Portugal in an impressive way.
The ensemble was founded in 2017 at the Cologne University of Music and Dance and is now one of the most important ambassadors of Portuguese folk music in North Rhine-Westphalia.
