Casanova - Konzert der Dresdner Bläserphilharmonie
In the organizer's words:
With its “Casanova” program, the Dresden Wind Philharmonic invites you to an evening full of musical contrasts. The centerpiece is de Meijs’ “Casanova” for cello (soloist: Alexander Hülshoff) and symphonic wind orchestra: a rich, resonant portrait of the legendary Casanova, whose life—marked by charm, adventure, imprisonment, and escape—is transformed into a musical spectacle. The program opens with Williams’ “Symphonic Dance No. 3 – Fiesta,” a work brimming with rhythmic energy. This is followed by the “Poco adagio” from Saint-Saëns’ Symphony No. 3, Op. 78, creating a moment of lyrical tranquility and great sonic depth. Cesarin’s “Sinfonietta No. 3, Op. 56 – Zwölfmalgreien Sketches” opens up a colorful panorama spanning city life, mountain shadows, and southern warmth. The contemporary highlight of the program is “A Hokusai Triptych” by Benjamin Barker, first-prize winner of the Winds Composition Contest Saxony 2025.
