Changing Lights | 25 Jahre Gemäldegalerie am Kulturforum | Jubiläumsfest

The Gemäldegalerie celebrates! 25 years ago, the new gallery building designed by Hilmer & Sattler opened at the Kulturforum. At last, the collection of paintings that had been divided after World War II was reunited. The Gemäldegalerie and the Kaiser Friedrich Museumsverein invite you to a big anniversary celebration with free admission.

After more than two years of renovation of the lighting system, the works shine in new light. Visitors can look forward to a varied program of events including guided tours, activities, workshops, evening talks, film premieres, music, dance and surprises.

On 18.11.23 from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. you can expect free admission to the Gemäldegalerie, short guided tours on the topic of light in painting by Caravaggio, Rembrandt and Vermeer, short guided tours by the director of the museum on the new light concept of the Gemäldegalerie, short guided tours on the special exhibition "Zoom on van Eyck", an open family workshop and guided tours for families.

From 7 p.m. there will be a round table discussion on the anniversary "Changing Places: Stations of the Gemäldegalerie", from 7:45 p.m. the premiere of the film "Old Masters, New Light: The Berlin Gemäldegalerie" (ARTE/rbb) and from 9 p.m. DJ Dickey Doo (House/Disco) will play and you can participate in a search game in the exhibition.
