Christin Nichols

In the organizer's words:

We see it. Sometimes we can't see anything because of the waves, but when the storm calms down, we realize: Once again, it was just the end of the world that we survived. Then the boat steers into the next harbor. You are infinitely alone in these moments. But in the end, somehow: it's all right. Christin Nichols assures us. And she should know.

Christin Nichols' long-awaited second solo album "Rette sich wer kann" will be released on 22.03.24. !

It's a bit outrageous what this woman manages to fit into a single lifetime. After all, the Berliner is not only a musician, but also an actress with television and theater experience, a dubbing artist and a full-time badass girl who is only too happy to give the stupid system the middle finger with a killer smile. The most wonderful thing about her, however, is that she doesn't even pretend that everything always goes perfectly.

Nichols' solo debut album "I'm Fine", released in early 2022, was exactly the album that guitar music in Germany desperately needed: mercilessly confident, but always permeable and tender, angry and wistful, full of great melodies and songs that are just as influenced by contemporary web and pop culture as they are by post-punk and wave. Publications such as Spiegel Online, Zeit Online, Musikexpress, Vogue and Cosmopolitain were full of praise, and with every damn right in the world: "Im Fine" cleared your tired head because you had the feeling that you were listening to a woman who was finding her very own definition of strength. Radio 1 also gave her full marks in the sound check, which meant she was nominated for "Album of the Year". Wow.

How powerful (and, sorry: simply awesome) it can sound to deal openly with moments of vulnerability is proven once again with her new songs. Sometimes they sound like new beginnings, sometimes like big thoughts at 3 a.m., then again they seem to waft from the days of the "Paisley Underground" into the present. Nichols had to be even braver than for her first solo album after her career with Prada Meinhoff, even more uncompromising. The famous magic may be inherent in every beginning, of course, but in the end you really need balls in life, especially for the long haul. Nichols says she had to venture further than ever before out of her comfort zone. Even though it was scary. But: where the fear is, that's where it goes.

Nichols tried on new sounds like clothes. And these clothes suit them well, the big themes of the album, which are always also Nichols' life themes: Feminism, hedonism, activism. Self-love. This also includes listening only to yourself, trusting your own ideas. However, Nichols, who knows how to create a kind of natural force field around herself on every stage and in every bar, is of course never completely alone. She has once again collaborated with Stephan Ernst, and for the first time with feature guests such as

Julian Knoth (Die Nerven) or rapper Fatoni, with whom Nichols also wrote the eponymous title track for the album "Rette sich wer kann". Simeon Cöster from Isolation Berlin was on drums.

At Nichols' concerts, you can see how beautiful a world could look in which everyone shakes the foundations of the patriarchy together with a beer, a fag and a lot of love. Each of her live shows is a big, glittering party of solidarity. Her new album feels like an evening with your best friend when you need it most: warming, honest. Deadly fun and deeply sad. When the end of the world is over, Nichols takes everyone on her boat who wants to come along for the ride. Maybe you don't even need a safe harbor, but simply sail on together. Always in search of answers that you don't actually need. Because everything is already there.

Christin Nichols' long-awaited second solo album "Rette sich wer kann" will be released on 22.03.24 on her own label "My Own Party Records".
