CHRISTOPH SAKWERDA - „UNBESIEGBAR“ TOUR 2024

Considering that Christoph Sakwerda came to singing in a roundabout way, the 23-year-old's songs are a sensation. Perhaps because the newcomer from Dessau simply says things as they are. With a voice that is second to none and with words that come from the heart and get under your skin. Music plays a completely different role in Christoph Sakwerda's life. Born in Dessau in 1999, he began playing the violin at the age of five. But the older he gets, the less interesting the instrument seems. When his mother saw an advertisement in the newspaper for the play "The Magic Flute" at the renowned Anhaltisches Theater in his home town, Christoph tried his luck - and was promptly accepted.

He then sings in bands and starts writing his own lyrics in class - more out of boredom than anything else. At the age of 17, Christoph finally stood in front of the microphone in the studio for the first time and also performed solo on stage. During one of his first gigs at the children's home in Dessau, the city's officials took notice of the singer. Christoph, who does not drink alcohol or take drugs and is a passionate sportsman, becomes part of a large-scale anti-drug campaign by the city of Dessau. The aim: to motivate young people from difficult backgrounds through music and sport.

Inspired by hip-hop greats such as Shindy and CRO, who are some of the few in the scene to push forward their own artistic vision in an independent yet catchy way, Christoph also begins to develop his own personal musical DNA. "If I want to say something, I write a song about it. I just put down on paper the things that are on my mind," says Christoph - and it seems that many other people who have exactly the same feelings and desires, needs and emotions are doing the same. And the way in which Christoph not only writes them down, but also sings them, makes them particularly touching. Not contrived and pretentious, but immediate and direct - exactly how you feel.

You first got an impression of what this sounds like in the summer of 2022 with songs like "Egal" and "Im Dunkeln". With these songs in his luggage, the singer also played three times as the support act for Montez on his "HERZINFUCKED" tour and was not only back on stage for the first time in years, but also in front of 3,000 spectators at the concert in Bielefeld. "The direct connection to the people and feeling their love was indescribable," recalls Christoph. In January 2023, the singer finally returned with the impressive single "Ich brauche dich". A song about his panic attacks and thoughts of anxiety - and a touching cry for help to his old self.

Christoph is now releasing his first EP in 2023. "The EP is a whole lot more personal than the previous songs," explains the singer. "At the same time, I want to show even more facets of myself, both lyrically and musically. Of course I like writing ballads, but I'm also often a very positive person and I want to bring that even more to the fore in my art."
