keiyaA is an impressive woman who, as an African-American artist, shows her "blackness" for everyone to see. Sometimes she wears her hair loose, other times she artfully braids it. Her fingernails are sometimes long and pointed like stilettos, her earrings often sparkle like gold in the sun. She confidently wins over her audience when she sings her songs on stage with the dark timbre of her voice, phrasing them smoothly. The sound of her generation is soul and R&B, both of which, like jazz, have their roots in African-American culture. She was born Chakeiya Camille Richmond in Chicago in 1992. She dropped out of her music studies when she realized that her creativity was being restricted by the strict curriculum. In 2015, she moved to New Jersey, not far from New York, where she decided to pursue a career as a singer. She added a capital "A" to her stage name - as keiyaA, she recently released her second album "hooke's law": with songs that often touch the soul and at the same time have the laid-back groove of nu-jazz tracks.

If you want to find out more about the work and creations of Georgian-born computer musician and sound artist Anushka Chkeidze, you should take a look at her sound installation "Lost Lullaby" for "The Sound" at the Monheim Triennale. She asked Monheim residents for their children's songs and turned them into a polyphonic hymn. Or for "The Prequel" the following year, she rehearsed one of her compositions with the Monheim Bunte Chor. And for "The Festival", she sat down at the organ of the Alststadtkirche with a laptop and organ machines to create "Intricate Pipes" as a fascinating sound architecture. The New York trumpeter Peter Evans was also a "Signature Artist" at the Monheim Triennale, where he and Chkeidze met. The (solo) trumpeter Evans also demonstrated his aesthetic and technical playing parameters there. With the help of extended techniques, he has developed a sound reservoir that is just as captivating and convincing with its motivic-thematic development as with its intensive use of multiphonics, circular breathing and split sounds.
