Between two worlds: Growing up in Germany in an Iranian-German family, Roya feels both close to and alien to Persian culture. During conversations at her Iranian family's table, she hardly understands a word, even though the sound is so familiar to her. Her longing to get to know Iran and thus a part of her roots grows ever greater. One day, the time has finally come: together with her father, Roya embarks on a journey through Iran and, as a queer woman, experiences an intense time between fascination and fear, beauty and oppression - without suspecting that this will be her last trip with her father.

Nadia Sheya is a singer, songwriter and guitarist from Esslingen with Iranian roots. Her music interweaves Persian melodies with the raw energy of rock and the soul of blues, reflecting a life shaped between two cultures. Singing in German, Persian and English, she creates honest and emotional songs that deal with identity, change and inner strength.
