“GUNDERMANN,” directed by Andreas Dresen, became an arthouse hit and was honored with six LOLAs and the German Film Award. A film that was universally acclaimed by the media, deeply moving, with a soundtrack that gets under your skin. As the lead actor, Alexander Scheer was awarded the Bavarian Film Prize and a LOLA for his performance. An active singer and musician himself, he received the German Record Critics’ Award for his interpretation of the songs in the film and, incidentally, climbed to a spot in the top 20 of the German album charts. Scheer, who already captivated audiences as Keith Richards in the feature film “Das wilde Leben” and thrilled them as David Bowie at the Schauspielhaus Hamburg, immerses himself deeply in the world and songs of Gerhard Gundermann. He explores them, unleashing an almost magical intensity “with everything he’s got” and returns them in concentrated form. A band was formed specifically for the film premiere, with no idea that it would evolve into a band project that is now a concert highlight and festival sensation with rapidly growing popularity throughout Germany.
