To celebrate their anniversary, the Berlin band is returning to SommerMusik at Rheydt Castle

“We want to see you again!” cheered the 1,500 fans who saw Culcha Candela at SommerMusik 2022 at Rheydt Castle. And according to the band themselves, it was “one of our most awesome shows ever.” For SommerMusik organizer Günter vom Dorp, it’s a no-brainer: “We’re bringing back this amazing concert”—and now the date is set. On August 23, they’ll take the SommerMusik stage in Mönchengladbach for the third time.

With their long career, Culcha Candela have become something of Germany’s “good-vibes dinosaurs.” But despite all the partying and danceable hits, they’ve never lost their passion for music and have continued to evolve.

Culcha Candela deliver an explosive mix of reggae, dancehall, salsa, and hip-hop that keeps everyone on their feet. On stage, the band’s full potential shines through as they sing in German, English, Spanish, or Patois and get the crowd dancing with their infectious rhythms.

With over five million records sold, nearly 35 gold and platinum awards, and more than 1,500 live shows, Culcha Candela may no longer be reinventing themselves—but they don’t need to. Time and again in recent years, the iconic Berlin collective has shown that—just as they always have—they can effortlessly pull energetic club bangers and hits with attitude out of their colorful sleeves. After nearly a quarter-century in show business, the band continues to tour sold-out venues, delivered the theme song for the European Handball Championship in Germany (“Celebration”) at the end of 2023, and at the end of 2024 / early 2025, they celebrated the 15th anniversary of their smash hit “MONSTA” with their MONSTA 15 EP and the massive MONSTA TOUR.
Standing still and retiring as pop stars are simply not options (yet) for the legendary hip-hop, reggae, and Latin band. The four guys from Berlin rarely can stand to just watch the world go by as “bystanders.” Culcha Candela has always wanted to make a difference and make the world a little bit better. That’s why they
continue to dedicate themselves wholeheartedly to social projects such as BeAnAngel e.V., Die Arche, ActionKids, Laut Gegen Nazis, Pro Asyl, Seebrücke, Afrika Rise, and many others.
