FUN Rocks the Castle at Summer Music

More than 80 performers will play global hits with an orchestral sound

On Saturday, August 29, sparklers will once again light up Rheydt Castle as more than 1,000 fans join FUN and the Youth Symphony Orchestra on a musical journey through time. “The program sounds like the soundtrack of our lives. It brings back memories, and somehow the emotions connect across all generations,” says FUN singer Günter vom Dorp, describing the special atmosphere at the concert.

Music bridges generations. The line “Music was my first love” from John Miles’s global hit is therefore a perfect fit for this concept, which has enjoyed such success for 19 years. The Summer Music Night with FUN & Friends has long since achieved cult status—filled with nostalgia and goosebump-inducing moments.

FUN is a truly exceptional phenomenon in the local music scene. No other band has been performing for so long, thrilling their loyal fans with their enthusiasm and the signature FUN sound. “These days, at our concerts, we see parents rocking out in front of the stage with their children and grandchildren. And when we play Beatles classics, everyone even sings along, knowing all the lyrics by heart. Isn’t that great?” the band says happily.

“You can’t really describe a concert like this—you have to experience it firsthand,” adds FUN singer Nadine Scholz, who will once again be performing with her choir, Stimmlich.

“We cover everything from the early ’60s to Bryan Adams and Elton John. And of course, there will be surprise guests again,” promises Günter vom Dorp.
