Classical Open Air 2026 at Rheydt Castle
International Summer Concert – Familiar Melodies and Young Talents Under the Open Sky

For the first time, the Heritage Sinfonietta—a professional orchestra from the Dutch sister city of Roermond—will perform at the traditional SommerMusik Open-Air Concert in Mönchengladbach, sending a strong message of cultural exchange across borders.

The concert program brings together renowned soloists from the Netherlands and Germany, including sopranos Elisabeth Freyhoff and Mara Guseynova from the Deutsche Oper am Rhein, bass-baritone Hubert Claessens, and tenor Morschi Franz. Together with the orchestra, they will create a summery open-air evening filled with familiar melodies—featuring arias from beloved operas by Puccini, Mozart, and Dvořák; classics from the musical *My Fair Lady*; lively highlights from the operetta *Die Fledermaus*; and impressive film music.

Special attention will be given to two exceptionally talented young artists: 12-year-old cellist Huajin Gu, a prize winner at the Prinses Christina Concours, and 15-year-old singer Meadow Isselt, who represented the Netherlands at the 2025 Junior Eurovision Song Contest.
