DAS DING IN UNS

PICK OF THE DAY Theater theater
PICK OF THE DAY
You cannot miss this event.
In the organizer's words:

A production by [naɪn̯] theaterCoLaborativ Leipzig

A man at the end of our world: he tells of a creature that has infected, imitated, infiltrated and destroyed his world and his fellow human beings. In the fight against the "thing", he has become a stranger to himself. How did it get this far? Is there any hope? Or is he himself already part of the absorbing organism? And who or what is this "thing" actually?

For the Schaubühne Lindenfels, the [naɪ̯n] theaterCoLaborativ is staging a play by Soheil Boroumand that addresses the subject of one's own involvement in the capitalist system. Inspired by the sci-fi classic "The Thing from Another World" by John Carpenter (1982), the monologue exposes the absurdity of neoliberalism and confronts the horror of contemporary exploitation logic with humor. Because: "It's easier to imagine the end of the world than the end of capitalism." (Mark Fisher)

"A dense lecture that uses humor instead of monotonous monologuing to target its own, oh so capitalist-critical clientele. This political theater knows [...] that it is not enough to perform theater with political intent and direction." (Kreuzer)

"'Das Ding in uns' is a monologue that Soheil Boroumand has not only written to his heart, but obviously also to his soul. And he knows how to perform it with impressive emphasis... [The play] gains its impact from the longing for the socially transformative power of art." (Leipziger Volkszeitung)
