This evening is a tribute to two of Germany's greatest football poets who revolutionized the genre: Ror Wolf and Ludwig Harig. What Beckenbauer and Netzer were for the game, these two were for the game with words, with their dream passes into the depths of the space between the lines, their playful and verbal wit, their exaggerations and sentence-riddling. They both deserved the Ballon d'or. We give it to them because two of the most outstanding German actresses bring their texts to the playing field.
