It’s time to try defying gravity! Stephen Schwartz has been one of the greatest artists of his generation long before his record-breaking musical "Wicked": Since the 1970s, he has been shaping Broadway and Hollywood with musicals like “Pippin” and “Godspell” and with his work as a lyricist and songwriter on films such as “The Hunchback of Notre Dame,” “Pocahontas,” and “The Prince of Egypt.”
Featuring Anton Zetterholm (who will also be appearing in the title role of “The Phantom of the Opera” in Cologne starting in November), Roberta Valentini (“Wicked,” “Ghost”), Merlin Fargel (“Moulin Rouge!,” "Tarzan"), Milica Jovanović ("Les Misérables," "Mary Poppins"), and Harriet Jones ("Beauty and the Beast," "The Phantom of the Opera"), the WDR Funkhaus Orchestra has invited some of Europe’s most sought-after musical theater stars to celebrate the extraordinary work of Stephen Schwartz.
On the program: the most popular hits, intimate ballads, and the full sonic power of “The Wizard & I” through “Magic To Do.” Great melodies meet a grand orchestra and truly magnificent voices—a musical concert in a class of its own!
