Deichbrand 2026: You camp at Nordholz near Cuxhaven, have a large site with several stages and quite a few people in a small space. The day often starts with music playing somewhere early on the campsite and someone constantly stumbling past your tent because they want to see friends, go to the toilet or get ice cream.

When you head towards the stages, there's a lot of walking at first: people, food stalls, merch, cup deposit, there's always someone in the way somewhere discussing where the group should go now. It gets crowded in front of the big acts, further back it's more relaxed. If you want to jump in, you'll be there earlier. If you just want to listen, you can stay further back and still have good sound.

Musically, Deichbrand is usually not "one scene", but mixed: bands, rap/hip-hop, electronic, depending on the slot and stage, you quickly switch from "guitars" to "808" to "bass". This is practical if you don't all want to listen to the same thing as a group, but it also means that you plan your evening according to individual acts rather than a consistent style.

The festival is big enough that it's easy to miss each other. That's why many people make fixed meeting points ("at that one food stand", "at the entrance", "at the loungers"), otherwise you'll be searching forever. And yes: the weather plays more of a role up there than at some southern festivals: wind and short showers are nothing unusual, so "one more layer" is rarely stupid.
