Both are legendary: Heidi, the girl from the Swiss Alps, and Dracula, the blood-sucking count from the Carpathian Mountains. And both have become icons of pop culture. What parallels are there between Spyri's work and the great novel penned by Bram Stoker (1847-1912)? Do Fräulein Rottenmeier, Clara, the Alm-Öhi and Dracula have more in common than we realize?
Peter Otto Büttner is an expert on "Heidi" and is working to ensure that Johanna Spyri's (1827-1901) story is finally taken seriously and given a new cultural significance. He is President of the Heidiseum Foundation and Director of the Heidi Archive.
Mark Benecke is a forensic biologist and has a great passion for all things dark, especially the blood-sucking night creatures, the vampires. He is chairman of the International Dracula Society. Both rediscover world literature. Mavie Hörbiger reads from "Dracula" and "Heidi". Mod.: Tobias Rüther
