In the organizer's words:

Democracy is a cross-sectional task in museums - whether in exhibition or educational contexts, for example, or as an impact in the socio-political sphere or in the institution itself. This requires as many different perspectives and expertise as possible in order to research, shape and keep democracy alive in everyday museum life. Working across disciplines is in turn a challenge, but the museum scene is particularly active in finding and establishing ways to do this.

Dr. Elke Kollar (Museumspädagogisches Zentrum München, Bundesverband Museumspädagogik e.V.), Prof. Dr. Alexander Wohnig (University of Siegen, Deutsche Vereinigung für Politische Bildung e.V.) and Dr. Carla-Marinka Schorr (University of Würzburg, project "Cultural Dynamics: Museums and Democracy in Motion") will jointly discuss various perspectives and areas of tension with regard to democracy education, museum work and opportunities for participation. The Chair of Museum Studies at the University of Würzburg and the NS Documentation Center of the City of Cologne cordially invite you to this interdisciplinary online discussion.
