DER ASSISTENT – LIVE 
Mystery, crime, and love: These are the ingredients for the new concept album by Der Assistent, aka Tom Hessler, which he will present on Friday, August 21, at Schleuse Zwei.

Following the fever-dream-like Tropicalismo journey “Amnesie am Amazonas,” on his third album, “Ultramarin,” he explores the

most laid-back genres of the early ’90s. True to the credo: “There is nothing more ’80s than the early ’90s.”

In eight songs ranging from yacht pop to Balearic and downbeat, listeners sail with Der Assistent and a band of doppelgängers across stormy seas of the soul toward “Total Confusion.”

Der Assistent has already performed live alongside artists such as Eddie Chacon, the John Carrol Kirby Septet, and The Zenmenn, as well as at Nacht Digital, Brussels’ Kiosk Radio, “Masa Sonora” in Lisbon, and Zurich’s Elektronika club Kauz. “Ultramarin” was written, recorded, produced, and mixed by Tom Hessler between

late summer 2025 and spring 2026. Berend Intelmann plays drums and Julius Gabriel plays all wind instruments.
