In spring 2024, Cologne-based artist Ivo Weber set off on a three-month journey from Cologne to Cluj-Napoca, Cologne's twin city in Romania. He traveled on an electric vehicle accompanied by a sculpture of a donkey. Weber was shown a work of art in public space in each major city and was introduced to it by the people living there. After each stop, the contribution was recorded in an archive.
Panorama pavilion at the site of the archive collapse
Commissioned by the city of Cologne
Andre Dekker from the artist group Observatorium and his team will be in the pavilion until June 29 so that the people of Cologne can write, draw or tell their stories for the LOGBUCH DER ZWISCHENZEIT. The Rotterdam-based group Observatorium has realized numerous works of art in public spaces throughout Europe.
In a temporary archive, they document how the collapse of the archives at Waidmarkt has influenced the attitude to life of the people of Cologne to this day. The collected documents will be inventoried and handed over to the Historical Archive of the City of Cologne as a legacy.
