The Sandman
freely adapted from E.T.A. Hoffmann
Nathanael is haunted by the sinister Coppola, who tries to sell him mysterious binoculars and spectacles. At the same time, he falls in love with the strikingly mechanical Olimpia, while his fiancée Klara waits in vain for him at home. A crazy duel with Klara's brother and a debauched party at Olimpia's father's house bring Nathanael to the edge of his sanity. Will the Sandman help him or push him completely into the abyss?
