Destination: Kingston - 20 Years Massaya Soundsystem (HH)

Massaya, the legendary reggae & dancehall soundsystem from Hamburg, St. Pauli, celebrates its 20th anniversary in a night full of music and memories at Hafenklang.

Since its inception in 2003, Massaya has shaken up the reggae scene in Germany. Twenty years ago, brothers Trappa and Semik founded the soundsystem together with Roman to share their passion for Jamaican music. Over the years they have been joined by Smart and Dre and together they have conquered the reggae world.

Massaya is known for his versatility and love of music. From ska and rocksteady of the 1950s and 60s to roots reggae of the 70s, Rub A Dub of the 80s, dancehall of the 90s and the current sounds from Jamaica, Massaya puts on everything that is fun and makes you want to dance. The audience can look forward to a mix of reggae, hip-hop, soca and afrobeats that will make the dance floor shake.

The sound system has won numerous awards over the years, including winning the "Hamburg 45-Clash" in 2005 and being voted one of the top 5 most popular sound systems in Germany by the readers of "Riddim" magazine in 2006. Massaya was also the first continental European dancehall sound to win a soundclash in the UK.

To celebrate the anniversary in a fitting way, Massaya promises a night full of good music, great emotions and unforgettable moments. This event at Hafenklang will undoubtedly be a highlight for all reggae fans and music enthusiasts
