DEVIL MASTER + DÖDSRIT

In the organizer's words:

From an enchanted corner of the Emerald Isle speaks the darkest prince. DEVIL MASTER 's lead guitarist has spent the pandemic years refining the band's sound - sometimes in seclusion in his native Ireland, sometimes in the company of his co-conspirators in Philadelphia. The result is DEVIL MASTER's heretical second album, "Ecstasies of Never Ending Night". "I think it's more complicated than the first album," says Darkest Prince about the seductive mix of black metal black metal, death rock and Japanese-style hardcore. The road from DEVIL MASTER's 2019 debut, "Satan Spits On Children Of Light", to "Ecstasies of Never Ending Night" was long and winding. Aside from the many challenges posed by the pandemic, the band parted ways with half of their previous line-up. In the aftermath, vocalist Disembody Through Unparalleled Pleasure also took on the role of bassist, strengthening the core trio of songwriters alongside Darkest Prince and rhythm guitarist Infernal Moonlight Apparition. Fresh blood was needed and found in drummer/keyboardist Festering Terror in Deepest Catacomb (also known as Chris Ulsh from "Power Trip" and "Iron Age"). In the meantime, other changes were afoot. In the days of touring before the lockdown, DEVIL MASTER were approached by producer Pete DeBoer, known for his work with interstellar death dealers Blood Incantation and Spectral Voice. DeBoer flew to Philadelphia to work with DEVIL MASTER at Milkboy Studios, a place better known for its pop (Lana Del Rey, Justin Timberlake) and rap clientele ("Lil Uzi Vert", "Meek Mill") than for anything metal or punk. So DEVIL MASTER recorded live to analog tape, surrounded by a surreal collection of platinum albums. (Source: Doomstar Bookings)

From the shadowy, deserted forests of Borlänge (Sweden) and the rusty, urban lechery of Amsterdam (Netherlands) comes DÖDSRIT, a maelstrom of soul-shredding blackness and cacophony. DÖDSRIT entered the world in 2017 as a one-man project by Christoffer Öster, a solo effort that would spawn both the self-titled debut in the same year and the subsequent "Spirit Crusher" in 2018. After that second album, the project grew into a full-fledged group with three new members, a change that would definitely sharpen the band's course into the powerful force it is today. Whether painting landscapes of storming riffs, crescendos of pulsating intensity or melancholy wails, DÖDRIT's crushing devotion to the visceral element in man and nature was mesmerizing from the start. Though the group is rooted in the black metal milieu, their sonic characteristics extend far beyond, from repetitive and atmospheric surges of misty ambience to melancholic yet triumphant outbursts, a palette of sorts that imbues this journey with a turmoil of emotion. These characteristics find their most precise expression on the third and new work "Mortal Coil", a step forward towards the abyss, and a definitive illustration of Doedstrit's treacherous depiction of ghastly emanations for and to the strife and suffering of our weak and dying existence.
