DFD Festival 2026: Von Hauben & Haaren

During the Düsseldorf Fashion Days, the Goethe Museum will showcase original issues and wall-sized illustrations from the *Journal des Luxus und der Moden*, the first major German-language fashion magazine, which kept readers on the edge of their seats with the latest news from the European fashion world starting in the late 18th century. The focus is on the imaginative and whimsical hair and hat fashions of Goethe’s time.

For families, there’s also a hands-on activity:

On the Hunt for the Birds of Paradise! For the Düsseldorf Fashion Days Festival, we’ve also prepared a scavenger hunt for you: In a “fashion feature,” you’ll take a journey through the animal kingdom—from “cow-pock” prints to “crocodile hats”—and travel to other countries or even back to the Old World, when Caesar cuts were still in style. Afterward, you’ll design exotic fans in the palace gardens.
