"Die neue (deutsche) Seltsamkeit" - Mit Raphaela Edelbauer und Petra Piuk

"The new (German) strangeness" - With Raphaela Edelbauer and Petra Piuk

Since last year, we have been regularly presenting literary chaos at Musikbar Schleuse Zwei in the Bilker Bunker. As part of the series "The New German Strangeness", we are devoting ourselves to texts that are no longer content with depicting reality and instead explore the limits of narrative. Wild genre mix meets vision of the future. Alternative reality collides with digitally influenced narrative form. Classifications are overcome and make room for deliberate confusion. In the texts presented, oceans disappear, dating apps become investigative tools and young women with vandalism become stars on the internet. We jump into the year 2130 as well as into an unprecedented past. After the readings and talks, the bar will remain open and various DJs will present the appropriate music program.

The guests of the new German weirdness on 24.06.2026 are

Raphaela Edelbauer, studied language arts at the University of Applied Arts. For her work "Entdecker. Eine Poetik", she was awarded the main prize at the Rauriser Literaturtage. Her debut novel "Das flüssige Land" was shortlisted for the German Book Prize and her third novel "Die Inkommensurablen" was longlisted. She received the Austrian Book Prize for her second novel "DAVE". Raphaela Edelbauer lives in Vienna.

Petra Piuk, born in Burgenland, lives in Vienna. She has worked for many years in film and television, in front of and behind the camera. Petra Piuk writes novels and children's books, for which she has received numerous prizes and awards. Her most recent publications are the prose volume "Die Liebe der Korallen" (Sonderzahl 2024) and the children's book "Schneewittchen pfeift auf Prinzessin" (Leykam 2024).

Following the reading, there will be a book launch at Schleuse Zwei.
