For Schleuse Zwei residents Steffi and Sophie, design and music are a bit like gin and tonic for most people: What's happening without each other, but it doesn't have to be, right? That's why the two of them run a design office in Düsseldorf during the day and DJ at night. They want to make the most of the 24 hours - even on the dancefloor. "We DJ so that everyone is sweaty, danced through and happy," says Sophie. They're not trying to demonstrate some kind of artificial coolness with the help of unknown top-checker tracks, on the contrary: they want to remind people how magical a club night can be if they make sure that everyone can find themselves in the music. And that sometimes means that early 90s techno, 2000s house and catchy 80s sounds shake hands. Fuck it!

As a female DJ duo, they mainly play vinyl, preferably all night long, with a lot of love for the first and last record of the evening, a bracket that has to be carefully considered every time. The rest can remain gut feeling.

Both grew up in clubs that were dirty, loud and snotty. But above all, they were peaceful and open to everyone. "Places of solidarity that we can't afford to lose any more of today," says Steffi. "That's why places like the Schleuse are so important: a club with no entrance fee, in the middle of the city, with local DJs, where everyone is welcome. Quite simply."
