The oceans as a giant garbage dump? Marine biologist Jaswinder (Meriam Abbas) can’t possibly let that happen! In Northern Ireland, she has set up a lab where she is working tirelessly on a project that could drastically reduce plastic waste in the world’s oceans. But in doing so, she makes powerful enemies, foremost among them the recycling entrepreneur Fleckmann (Heino Ferch), who pretends to be a model citizen but is actually raking in money through illegal waste disposal.

Jaswinder is in grave danger: she receives threatening emails, a thief breaks into her lab in Ireland—and finally, she vanishes without a trace from her research ship. Luckily, her son Tarun (Caspar) and his girlfriend Alice (Emilia) are real go-getters: with plenty of courage and cleverness, they set out to solve her latest case. From the research station on Northern Ireland’s cliffs to their headquarters in Hamburg’s Speicherstadt, their adventurous journey takes them all the way to the fishing village of Wesemünde, where Jaswinder’s research vessel is moored.

In their latest mystery, the “Peppercorns” Alice and Tarun need all the help they can get—and they find it in the siblings Jonny (Leander) and Clarissa (Charlotte), whom they meet in Wesemünde. And finally, the gang of fishermen’s children, led by Hanna (Linda), joins in to track down the kidnappers, free Jaswinder, and save her invention…
