Romantics and fans of a gentle thrill alike will be captivated as the mysterious and unhappy Beast wins over the beautiful girl Belle and, with her help, rediscovers his human side.

Set against an elaborately designed stage set—which often becomes an active part of the performance—the Düsseldorf Marionette Theater has staged this wonderful love story as a fantastical puppet show full of ghosts and magic: enchanting, fairy-tale-like, but also sure to bring a smile to your face and, at times, eerie yet beautiful…

About the Story:

A merchant gets lost in a forest and stumbles upon an enchanted castle. When he picks a rose in the garden for his youngest daughter, Belle, the enraged lord of the castle appears: a hideous beast. To save her father’s life, Belle ventures into the castle. She gradually helps the enigmatic and unhappy Beast rediscover his human side. When Belle becomes concerned about her sick father, the Beast lets her go with a heavy heart. But if Belle doesn’t return in time, the Beast will die. And Belle is held back by her jealous sisters...
