It happened in the night from May 10 to 11, 2024: After a violent solar storm, auroras billow in the sky over Cologne! Our sun, which is so much more than just a reliable source of renewable energy, was responsible for this. Our closest star not only offers a different picture every day when observing its turbulent surface and atmosphere. The sun also tells us a lot about the life of the other stars that populate our Milky Way billions of times over.
