Ten heirs are invited to a mysterious castle to open their wills. The notary hands each of them a piece of paper, a puzzle piece that, together with the others, will provide the solution with which they can inherit. This is the last will and testament of the owner. A veil of greed, intrigue, megalomania and hubris quickly covers the events and a game of intrigue begins. What is truth, what is a lie?
Michael Ende's play, written at the end of the 1960s, presents directors Aenne Busmann and Hans-Peter Mörsch with the great challenge of creating this required transformation process in a playful and visual way.
As in Michael Ende's books, the audience should allow themselves to be amazed and think magically - then perhaps they will recognize a social reflection of our times in this macabre parable.
