In the shadow of all this, decolonization is - belatedly - taking effect."

Daniel Marwecki describes the current geopolitical upheavals in his book Die Welt nach dem Westen: Über die Neuordnung der Macht im 21. Jahrhundert (The World after the West: On the Reorganization of Power in the 21st Century ) and works out how the feeling that the West is in decline is intensifying. In ironic reference to this diagnosis, the model of the five stages of grief according to Elisabeth Kübler-Ross is discussed. This model describes the emotional stages that mourners go through: Denial, Anger, Bargaining, Despair and finally Acceptance.
