In the organizer's words:
Based on the novel by Mareike Fallwickl
What if a mother does the unthinkable: simply disappears and leaves three children behind - in the lurch! - leaves behind? Who then fills this vacuum?
In Mareike Fallwickl's novel, her childless best friend Sarah unexpectedly finds herself in the role of caregiver after Helene's suicide. Why does she, who has no parenting experience at all, feel responsible for the mountains of children's clothes that need to be washed, children's birthdays that need to be planned and tears that need to be dried?
In her search for those moments that have exhausted Helene so much, Sarah also repeatedly finds patterns of her female imprint that lead her to take on tasks that others could also do - for example the child's father Johannes. But he also seems trapped in his role as a helpless, passive father. Sarah's partner Leon, on the other hand, regularly avoids Sarah's desire to have children and leaves her alone to deal with the conflict of shared parenthood.
Helene's teenage daughter Lola tries with all her might to tear herself away from the social expectations that have broken Helene and left Sarah in despair. Together with her best friend Sunny, she joins forces with Alva and Femme, whom she meets at the boxing club, in order to gain physical and emotional strength to not only stand up to the patriarchy, but also to put her foot down.
