Francis “Baby” Houseman (Jennifer Grey) is a girl from a wealthy family. She and her family spend the summer of 1963 at Max Kellermann’s (Jack Weston) hotel, where Baby meets the dashing dance instructor Johnny Castle (Patrick Swayze)—his performance sparks her desire to dance as well. But the mambo god has no time for spoiled upper-class girls. Then, however, his dance partner Penny (Cynthia Rhodes) has to drop out due to an unplanned pregnancy, and Baby offers to help. Now she has to learn the complicated mambo steps in a crash course. The pair also quickly grow closer emotionally, but must overcome various obstacles along the way: a series of thefts and the hotel’s golden rule—that staff and guests must remain separated by an invisible line—give Baby and Johnny a hard time...
