In the organizer's words:
Anyone who only knows Django Asül from his legendary Maibock speeches in the Hofbräuhaus or his furious annual reviews knows that this man is Bavarian directness personified. But when the recipient of the Bavarian Order of Merit presents his eighth solo program, "Am Ende vorn", he leaves the political day-to-day business behind and devotes himself to the "preserves". Django Asül not only analyzes the what, but also the why. He links the here and now with the "elsewhere and later". In a world of empty phrases, he gets every word right. Here, every subordinate clause really does have what it takes to become a main clause - served up with the unagitated authority of a man who grew up in Deggendorf and understands the Bavarian soul better than many a local.
Django Asül, whose real name is Hansi Türkpüccü, is a unique figure on the German cabaret scene. Since the mid-1990s, he has combined his Lower Bavarian dialect and his deeply relaxed facial expressions with an intellectual acuity that takes no prisoners. He has remained true to himself and his audience: uncompromising, quick-witted and always one step ahead. Awarded the Bavarian Culture Prize and the Cabaret Prize, Django proves that he is not a short-lived comedian, but a chronicler of our society who is consistently evolving.
