Drum Twins - No Rhythm, No Music! | Überschlag Festival 2026
In the organizer's words:
An evening for all those who not only want to hear rhythm, but also experience it physically.
Arsenal Mikebe transform traditional Ugandan rhythm cultures into a hypnotic force of sound between percussion ensemble, dub system and futuristic rave. The result is not a concert in the traditional sense, but a collective state of emergency.
The ensemble from Kampala is one of the most exciting new voices on the international percussion scene. Based on traditional East African rhythmic practices, Arsenal Mikebe develop high-energy soundscapes that are reminiscent of electronic club music - and yet are completely handmade.
At the heart of their sound is a specially developed percussion instrument made of steel, inspired by the inner workings of the legendary Roland TR-808. Played with enormous physical intensity, this instrument is transformed into a living drum machine of metal, resonance and movement.
Having performed at Roskilde, Fusion, Sinsal and Tallinn Music Week, Arsenal Mikebe is considered one of the most exciting live acts on the African continent.
A concert between ceremony, sound system and trance.
