CHRONOS Quartett | Überschlag Festival 2026

In the organizer's words:

The Chronos Quartet combines two pianos and two percussionists to create a joint body of sound of enormous precision and physical energy.

With works by Minas Borboudakis, Igor Stravinsky and Béla Bartók, the ensemble moves between rhythmic complexity, archaic power and finely layered soundscapes.

The program includes Borboudakis' pulsating Chronochromos, Stravinsky's iconic Petrushka and Bartók's legendary Sonata for two pianos and percussion.

Founded by the award-winning Chipak-Kushnir Piano Duo together with percussionists Francisco Manuel Anguas Rodríguez and Henrik M. Schmidt, the quartet sees itself as an ensemble at the interface of structure, movement and sound.

Henrik M. Schmidt, the host of the Überschlag CAMP and professor of percussion at the HMTMH Hannover, will also be performing in the festival program.
