Martin Zähringer meets Duygu Ağal
With: Laura Kleinwort, Eman Dwagy
In her debut Yeni Yeşerenler (New Blossoms), Duygu Ağal tells the story of growing up as the child of Turkish guest workers in Hamburg. Her story really opens up in many blossoms. Some of them are retrospective memories of life with her family in a small apartment, of friendships, social conflicts and solidarity, of the many attempts to survive in this problematic Almanya. The most important flowering is the sexual awakening as a woman who loves women. It is also the hardest and longest conflict with the mainstream and now the setting is queer Berlin. But even in Berlin, the desire for self-determined love is a hard school, new flowers have to fight to blossom.
In the first part of Literatur Aktion Wedding, actors will read texts that have shaped the author and that she herself has selected.

Duygu Ağal (she/he) is a queer activist and author from Berlin. In Yeni Yeşerenler, Ağal publishes short stories, essays and diary entries in which he uses his own story to reflect on plural, intersectional representation, queerness, identity politics and their boundaries and their relation to collectivism and individualism. Yeni Yeşerenler (the reborn, getting leaves, turning green) are the words of Cennet Yıldırım, Ağal's mother, who gave the title to the anthology. "YY." is an autofiction in which the author creates spaces for meditation without owing authenticity to anyone.
