Even though the Giessen Picture Book Festival unfortunately cannot take place this year, we are delighted to be able to get you in the mood for 2027 with two events. The picture book market is huge - it can be quite difficult to keep track of everything. In Wetzlar, a small team of experts reads through the new publications every year in order to always be able to recommend the best new titles. On behalf of the Wetzlar reads... from the beginning and everywhere, Maren Bonacker from the Fantastic Library Wetzlar presents her personal picture book highlights for the year 2026, gives tips for reading aloud at home and for educational use in daycare centers and schools. The speaker will present the selected picture books and will focus in particular on the encouraging language-promoting effect of dialogic reading aloud.

The training course is being held in cooperation with the Giessen City Library, the Giessen Picture Book Festival and the Institute of German Studies at Justus Liebig University Giessen in the Giessen City Library (Berliner Platz 1, 35390 Giessen). Free admission, registration is required. Access to the venue is wheelchair accessible.
